Job summary

Credit Union 1 Alaska seeks a Chief Risk Officer based in Anchorage, Alaska. The CRO will lead ERM, credit risk oversight, compliance programs, fraud prevention, vendor risk, operational resilience, information security governance, regulatory relations, and risk culture across the CU1 ecosystem.

Travel across Alaska footprint is required. The role partners with the C-suite and Board to incorporate risk into strategy, budget, and product decisions, with a demanding leadership profile to challenge

Qualifications

• 10+ years in risk, compliance, credit, audit, or regulatory roles in financial services with at least 5 years leading teams.
• Direct experience with credit union or community bank regulation, including NCUA or comparable regulator.
• Ownership of at least two: enterprise risk management, credit risk, BSA/AML, or compliance management.
• Experience presenting to a board of directors or board-level risk or audit committee.
• Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee enterprise risk management including risk taxonomy, appetite statements, KRIs, and board-facing reporting.
• Partner with CROs and CFO on credit risk oversight, portfolio quality, stress testing, and loan policy.
• Own compliance management, consumer regulations, fair lending, and BSA/AML program sizing.
• Oversee fraud prevention, detection, and loss mitigation across channels.
• Own due diligence and monitoring for third-party vendors and fintech partners.
• Lead operational resilience, business continuity, disaster recovery, incident response, and crisis management.
• Collaborate with CIO on cyber risk governance and technology risk.
