Job summary

Everwise Credit Union seeks a Chief Risk Officer to lead the second line of defense, oversee enterprise risk, compliance, and in-house legal functions, reporting to the CEO and Board.

The CRO translates the Board's risk appetite into guardrails for growth, new products, partnerships, and digital channels, while preserving member trust and regulatory standing. A seasoned leader will guide risk data and AI tools to enhance decision-making.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in a relevant field is required.
• Graduate degree in risk management, business, law, public policy or equivalent preferred.
• 10+ years in risk management, compliance, or related fields, including senior leadership of a second-line function at a regulated financial institution of comparable size and complexity.
• Experience at $10B+ federally-insured depository, or crossing the Dodd-Frank threshold, is preferred.
• Fluency with risk data, analytics, and emerging technology including AI tools.

Responsibilities

• Enable profitable, member-centric growth with risk-adjusted strategy.
• Lead enterprise risk management framework and three-lines governance.
• Oversee credit, capital, liquidity, and financial risk oversight.
• Lead regulatory compliance, financial crime, and fraud programs.
• In-house legal counsel oversight and coordination with outside counsel.
• Oversee cybersecurity, model risk, and third-party risk management.
• Engage regulators and industry relations to ensure transparency and compliance.
• Build and develop a high-performing second-line team and risk culture.
