Job summary

Alaska Environment, part of Environment America, seeks a Campaign Associate in Anchorage to support campaigns protecting Alaska’s air, water and wildlife and to build sustainable support for a greener future.

Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply; we provide training and expect occasional travel, evenings, and weekends. Compensation is around $40k with a strong benefits package and opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• Passion for the environment and using the power of grassroots organizing to win campaigns.
• Top-notch writing and public speaking skills.
• An eagerness to learn.
• Organizing experience, including building campus or community groups.
• The ideal candidate will also be from, live in or have other strong ties to Alaska.

Responsibilities

• Educate and mobilize public support: conduct online and in-person outreach.
• Build coalitions: reach out to a broad range of organizations and affected groups.
• Earn traditional media and social media attention: organize news conferences and write opinion pieces.
• Organize events and work with volunteers: webinars, community events and public meetings.
• Lobby elected officials: meet with decision makers to advocate for campaign goals.
• Research and write reports: analyze data to influence public debate.
• Recruit new people to your team: recruit volunteers and interns.
• Run a grassroots campaign office: meet fundraising goals and manage a team.
• Participate in organizational projects and trainings across campaigns.
