Position Title: AVI Fellow
Reports To: Lead AVI Teacher / Program Director
Location: Virtual and On-Site Support (as assigned)
Employment Type: Part-Time/Seasonal
Compensation: $25 per hour

Position Summary

The AVI Fellow is a critical support role designed to enhance the student experience during the Alabama Virtual Institute (AVI) sessions. Fellows work alongside AVI teachers to ensure seamless class operations by managing technical tasks, administrative duties, and engagement strategies. The Fellow provides high-energy support, maintains professionalism, and ensures that virtual classrooms are prepared and running smoothly.

Primary Responsibilities
Instructional and Technical Support
  • Open and prepare Zoom sessions promptly, ensuring music (school-appropriate and clean) is playing as students arrive.
  • Assist the teacher with screen sharing, file sharing, and other technical needs during instruction.
  • Record sessions as directed; pause or stop recording during videos to comply with copyright requirements.
Administrative Duties
  • Complete the Site Attendance Form accurately each day.
  • Submit a Daily Feedback Form to capture observations, technology notes, and student engagement.
Student Engagement
  • Maintain a positive, interactive presence throughout sessions—students respond to your energy.
  • Support the teacher by encouraging participation and keeping students engaged virtually.
Professional Expectations
Timeliness and Preparedness
  • Log in at least 10 minutes before the scheduled session (e.g., arrive at 9:50 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. session).
  • Be familiar with the lesson content to anticipate teacher and student needs.
Professional Conduct
  • Maintain an on-camera presence free from distractions (no eating or drinking on camera).
  • Dress appropriately and ensure a professional background during sessions.
  • Communicate proactively regarding schedule conflicts, absences, or technical issues.
