Job summary

Port of Portland is seeking an experienced airport operations professional to serve as the go-to expert for 14 CFR Part 139 matters and lead the Safety Assurance component of the SMS. You will collaborate on FAA inspections, regulatory interpretation, and the maintenance of the Airport Certification Manual and related documents.

The role requires regular on-site work with some irregular hours during inspections and field activities, including airfield presence and PPE usage where needed.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in progressively responsible airport operations, Part 139 compliance, or safety management.
  • Driver's license clearance to operate Port vehicles.
  • Drug screen clearance.
  • Bachelor’s in Aviation Management or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Port’s primary technical resource for airport certification compliance and regulatory interpretation under 14 CFR Part 139.
  • Act as Port’s primary compliance representative during FAA inspections, track findings and support corrective actions.
  • Monitor compliance with federal safety standards and recommend improvements to airside safety programs.
  • Lead the SMS Safety Assurance component, analyze safety data, and surface risks to drive improvements.
  • Manage the airside UAS program, review mission plans, and ensure regulatory adherence.
