Job summary

The Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office is seeking a full-time Airport Security Officer at the Sioux Falls Regional Airport. You will supervise security operations, maintain an armed presence, and coordinate with TSA to ensure airport safety.

The role requires SD law enforcement certification, firearm qualification, a valid driver's license, and state background checks. Employment begins January 2027 with a 15-shift/month schedule and a competitive hourly wage.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; minimum age 21 at hiring; valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Current South Dakota law enforcement certification or ability to obtain certification.
• Successfully complete firearm safety training and yearly qualification.
• Pass pre-employment background check.

Responsibilities

• Supervise law enforcement duties to maintain safety and security of Sioux Falls Regional Airport and its facilities.
• Maintain armed presence, coordinate with TSA and airport operations, and conduct compliance checks.
• Respond to alarms, verify IDs, conduct screenings, seize prohibited items, and prepare reports.
• Coordinate with law enforcement partners, manage emergencies, and testify when required.
