Job summary

United Ground Express is seeking airport ground handlers at SAV. Responsibilities include lifting baggage up to 70 lbs, operating tugs, loading aircraft, cleaning interiors, and reading load sheets. You will work outdoors in all weather and must pass pre-employment screenings.

Requirements include minimum 18 years old, valid driver’s license, fingerprint clearance and airport badge, ability to work any shift, and fluent English. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must possess a valid state-issued driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Must acquire and maintain credentials including fingerprint clearance, local airport badging, and background check.
• Successful completion of pre-employment process including drug screen, hearing and vision check.
• Available to work any shift; day or night, weekends, and holidays; overtime may be required.
• Must read, write, and speak English fluently.

Responsibilities

• Lift baggage, boxes, or cargo weighing up to 70 lbs throughout shift.
• May require lifting over 100 items for a single aircraft.
• Push/pull loaded and empty carts during loading/unloading operations.
• Ascend/descend jet-way stairs while carrying baggage.
• Bend/stoop and crawl to move and stack/unstack cargo in aircraft.
• Drive ground equipment (tugs, belt loaders, bag carts) to assist aircraft handling.
• Clean interior of the aircraft and service lavatories.
• Read and interpret load sheets, baggage tags, and cargo labels.
• Prepare and secure aircraft for the next flight.
• Ensure compliance with United and FAA regulations.
