Job summary

San Bernardino County Department of Airports is seeking an Airport Operations Technician to manage runway systems and perform maintenance on hangars, tenant buildings, and related facilities at county airports. Responsibilities include operating power tools, tractors, and heavy equipment, responding to emergencies, and providing pilot advisory information via Unicom radio.

The role requires willingness to travel among county airports, and may involve on-call responsibilities including weekends

Qualifications

• One year of full-time work in building construction or maintenance performing skilled or semi-skilled duties including carpentry, plumbing, construction, or electrical work.
• Experience in concrete, asphalt, roofing, HVAC, framing, welding, electrical and heavy equipment operation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and operate the airport runway system and related facilities.
• Repair and maintain hangars and tenant buildings, landscape, and building equipment.
• Operate power tools, tractors and heavy equipment; respond to airport emergencies.
• May operate a Unicom radio to provide pilot advisory information on weather and runway conditions.
