Job summary

The Department of Airports is recruiting for an Airport Operations Technician responsible for maintenance and operations of the airport runway system, repair and upkeep of hangars and tenant buildings, and landscape and equipment maintenance at San Bernardino County Airport Facilities. Incumbents may respond to emergencies and operate heavy equipment and power tools.

Current vacancies exist in Chino Airport and Apple Valley Airport.

Qualifications

One (1) year of full-time equivalent work experience in building construction or building maintenance performing skilled or semi-skilled duties including carpentry, plumbing, construction, or electrical work.
Experience in concrete, asphalt, roofing, HVAC, framing, welding, electrical and heavy equipment operation.
Background check, pre-employment physical/drug test, and verification of employment history prior to appointment.

Responsibilities

Maintain and operate the airport runway system and related facilities.
Repair and maintain hangars and tenant buildings and landscaping.
Maintain facility and building equipment; respond to airport emergencies.
Operate power tools, tractors, and heavy equipment as needed.
May provide pilot advisory information via Unicom radio (weather/runway conditions).
