Job summary

Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority seeks a Locksmith Apprentice in the Airport Maintenance Department at Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA) or Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD). This non-career, term position participates in a state-approved Apprenticeship Employment Program to develop knowledge, skills, and abilities toward becoming a journey-level locksmith.

Training is on-the-job and classroom-based; you will learn lock hardware, keying systems, and related maintenance

Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age at hire.
Must be eligible to work in the United States.
Ability to learn locksmith trades through the Apprenticeship program.
State driver’s license in good standing; may require Class B CDL.

Responsibilities

Learns to respond to emergency lock, key, or door hardware problems and performs repairs.
Keeps track of keys, tools, and inventory for repairs and projects.
Assists in inspections of doors and troubleshoot door-closing problems.
Learns to use locking system software to manage master key systems.
Fabricates parts, changes locking functions, and maintains security hardware.
Supports and maintains Airport Electronic Security Key Systems.
