Job summary

The State of Hawaii, Department of Transportation, seeks an Airport Information Operator II to supervise and operate the Flight Information Display System, telephone switchboard, and public address systems to relay current flight and airport information at Honolulu International Airport.

Qualifications include 1 year each of general and specialized experience, strong communication skills, and supervisory aptitude. Rotating shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays are required.

Qualifications

• Basic Education/Experience: 1/2 year knowledge of English grammar and instruction; high school diploma acceptable.
• General Experience: 1 year in clear speech and dealing with people via in-person or telecoms.
• Specialized Experience: 1 year operating a telephone switchboard, PA system, and/or FIDS.
• Supervisory Aptitude: demonstrated potential for supervisory duties or completion of supervision training.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and participates in operating FIDS, telephone switchboard, PA system and related equipment to provide current flight and airport information.
• Supervises and participates in monitoring an airport fire alarm system.
• Supervises notification of designated contacts in emergencies across the airport, harbors, and highways on Oahu.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
