Job summary

The Facility Maintenance Technician at Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority performs routine maintenance and repairs on airport facilities and equipment, focusing on electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems. This role supports smooth airport operations with on-call availability and a required 2nd shift (3:00pm - 11:30pm).

Qualifications

• 3-5 years' experience in facility maintenance or mechanical repair.
• Up to 1 year of technical or trade schooling in electrical, plumbing or mechanic systems (preferred).
• Hands-on experience in plumbing, electrical, and/or mechanical work (less than 1 year required).
• Strong working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and general construction methods; safety procedures and FAA FAR Part 139.

Responsibilities

• Conduct visual inspections throughout the terminal, concourse, stairwells, and other airport buildings to identify potential issues.
• Diagnosing faulty equipment through observation and testing to maintain optimal performance.
• Replacing mechanical components, such as electric motors, pumps, and conveyor systems.
• Reading and interpreting blueprints to address repair and maintenance requirements accurately.
• Entering and managing work orders to track maintenance activities.
• Assisting in maintaining the Airport Certification Manual and ensuring compliance with FAR Part 139 requirements.
• Performing related tasks as needed to support overall facility operations.
