Job summary

Wichita Company Limited seeks a paraprofessional engineer to support complex construction and maintenance projects. The Airport Construction Inspector acts as liaison among contractors, engineers, and clients, performing data collection, inspection, drafting, and analysis in both office and field settings.

Responsibilities include cost estimation, plan review, site inspections, GPS surveys, and CAD-related tasks.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of surveying or drafting instruments and methods.
• General knowledge of building, paving and utility construction.
• Working knowledge of civil engineering principles.
• Ability to use a computer to access, interpret and record information.
• Skill in engineering computations, estimates and design preparation.
• Skill in writing reports, quantity take-offs, and cost estimates.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and related software; recognize CAD operation signals.
• Ability to learn testing methods for concrete, asphalt, aggregates and soils.
• Ability to work outdoors in construction environments.
• Ability to maintain project records and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Performs computations and calculations for plans and cost estimation.
• Reviews paving and structural mix designs.
• Inspects construction work for contract compliance.
• Observes testing of concrete, asphaltic concrete, aggregates, and moisture testing.
• Creates and maintains databases, maps, and GIS layers.
• Performs basic survey and data collection with GPS equipment.
• Performs site utility Locates and uses locate equipment.
• Maintains effective working relationships with colleagues and the public.
• Operates total station, data collector, and related tools.
• Maintains accurate records and prepares clear reports.
