Job summary
The Lehigh Northampton Airport Authority is seeking an Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) firefighter at Lehigh Valley International Airport in Allentown, PA. This full-time role responds to aircraft incidents, hazmat events, structural fires and medical emergencies, and operates ARFF apparatus to perform rescue and suppression tasks.
Ideal candidates hold NFPA 1 & 2, with EMT preferred and must complete certification within 12 months.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- NFPA Firefighter Certification 1 & 2 required.
- Hazardous Materials Operations Level Certificate required.
- NIMS IC-100/200/70/800 certificates required.
- PA EMT Certification preferred; must obtain within 12 months of hire.
Responsibilities
- Respond to aircraft, hazmat, structural and EMS incidents and determine best response.
- Drive and operate ARFF vehicles and position for rescue.
- Prevent and extinguish fires and rescue occupants.
- Operate pumps and firefighting equipment.
- Perform duties to prevent or extinguish fires and conduct rescue operations under hazardous conditions.
- Respond to medical emergencies involving airport patrons or employees.
