Position Purpose

The Aircraft Mechanic Instructor is responsible for delivering engaging and comprehensive instruction in assigned courses, ensuring that students grasp both theoretical concepts and practical applications in aircraft maintenance. The role also involves managing administrative tasks such as maintaining records, assessing student performance, and collaborating with faculty to enhance the curriculum. This position is crucial in fostering a supportive learning environment that promotes student success and prepares them for careers in aviation.

Key Duties
  • Provide engaging and effective teaching in aircraft maintenance principles while developing curricula aligned with industry standards.
  • Create a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages participation and offers individualized support to students.
  • Oversee administrative responsibilities, including maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards.

This position ensures that the aircraft maintenance training program effectively prepares students for careers in aviation, aligning with industry standards and contributing to the institution's success.

Job Responsibilities
  • Teach scheduled classes, creating an inclusive environment that fosters engagement and enhances learning.
  • Collaborate with Program Coordinator, Campus Director of Education, and Campus Executive Director to develop and refine curriculum, prepare materials, and schedule classes.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom and lab environment, ensuring tools and equipment are properly maintained.
  • Establish and maintain accurate academic and attendance records, submitting documentation as required.
  • Proactively notify supervisors of issues affecting student retention and implement retention techniques.
  • Complete performance-based teacher education modules, participate in classroom observations, and respond to student feedback.
  • Attend and/or lead in-service training, faculty meetings, and other professional development activities.
  • Assist in managing equipment and supplies inventory, submitting replenishment requests as needed.
  • Monitor student attendance closely, alerting supervisors to absences that may impact retention.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned to support the aircraft maintenance program.
Required Qualifications
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic Certificate
  • Minimum three (3) years of hands-on aircraft maintenance experience
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft maintenance principles and ongoing professional development
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, compliance-driven educational environment
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of multitasking under pressure
  • High integrity, professionalism, and strong communication skills
  • Motivated, goal-oriented, with problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams)
  • Flexible and available to work outside scheduled hours as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in a related field
  • Experience with CampusNexus
Work Schedule
  • Option 1: Mon-Thu 7:00 am - 4:00 pm; Fri 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
  • Option 2: Mon-Thu 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm; Fri 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
