Job summary

Irving Knight Group is seeking an Airfreight Coordinator in Miami to manage end-to-end international airfreight shipments, including project cargo. The role requires handling complex operations, regulatory compliance, and close coordination with carriers and clients.

Responsibilities include bookings, documentation, and data entry in the TMS, with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and timely updates to stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years hands-on experience in airfreight forwarding, including project cargo and large-volume handling.
  • Certified in Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR).
  • Strong understanding of global airfreight operations, documentation, and Incoterms.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end airfreight operations for standard/general cargo and project shipments, including oversized or time-critical goods.
  • Coordinate high-volume bookings and space allocations with airlines and consolidators.
  • Handle airway bills, cargo manifests, DGR declarations, and export/import clearance paperwork.
  • Ensure compliance with IATA, TSA, CBP and other regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate with clients, carriers, ground handlers, and internal teams to manage expectations and resolve issues.
  • Monitor shipments and provide real-time updates, addressing delays or exceptions.

Job description

Role Overview:

The Airfreight Coordinator is responsible for managing the end-to-end coordination of international airfreight shipments, with a focus on high-volume and project cargo movements. The successful candidate will be well-versed in air cargo operations, including handling complex logistics, large-scale shipments, and Dangerous Goods (DGR) in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Management full-cycle airfreight operations for both standard/general cargo and project-based shipments, including oversized, heavy-lift, or time-critical goods.
  • Coordinate high-volume bookings and space allocations with airlines and consolidators.
  • Handle all required documentation, including airway bills, cargo manifests, DGR declarations, and export/import clearance paperwork.
  • Ensure strict compliance with IATA, TSA, CBP, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, carriers, ground handlers, and internal departments to manage expectations and resolve issues.
  • Monitor and track shipments, providing real-time updates to stakeholders and proactively addressing delays or exceptions.
  • Participate in project planning for large-scale or high-value freight movements, working closely with operations and engineering teams when applicable.
  • Ensure cost-effective shipment routing and accurate rate application in collaboration with the pricing and procurement team.
  • Ensure accurate data entry into TMS and maintain organized shipment records.
  • Maintain data accuracy in logistics platforms and ensure timely billing and invoicing.
  • Support training and mentorship for junior team members when needed.

Requirements:

  • MUST - 3-5 years of hands-on experience in airfreight forwarding, including project cargo and large-volume handling.
  • MUST - Certified in Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR).
  • MUST - Strong understanding of global airfreight operations, documentation, and Incoterms.
  • MUST - Familiarity with customs procedures, compliance standards, and country-specific regulations.
  • MUST - Experience in cutting back-to-back AWBs, adhoc collections, billing, filing AES
  • MUST - Proficient in logistics software such as Cargowise, SAP TM, or similar platforms.
  • MUST - Ability to work on-site in Miami (hybrid working subject to manager approval)
  • Bonus skill - Pricing experience
  • SHOULD - Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple complex shipments simultaneously.
  • SHUOLD Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • SHOULD - Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a high-stakes environment.
