Position: Airfield Safety Officer (ASO)
Location: Philadelphia International Airport (PHL)
Shift: Monday – Friday, 9PM-6AM
Employment: CMI considers Independent Contractors or Full-time W2

Position Summary
We seek an experienced Airfield Safety Officer (ASO) to oversee contractor safety within the Air Operations Area (AOA) at PHL. The ASO will ensure compliance with the Construction Safety and Phasing Plan (CSPP) and the Safety and Phasing Coordination Document (SPCD). The role involves coordinating with airport operations to maintain a safe, compliant, and disruption-free work environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily safety briefings before contractor entry into the airfield
• Coordinate runway access with construction managers
• Verify MPT measures are in place
• Monitor air traffic control communications via radio
• Ensure compliance with AOA access and escort procedures
• Assist in daily demobilization activities
• Perform field inspections using HCSS or similar platforms
• Maintain safety logs and submit inspection reports
• Attend safety workshops and complete required training

Experience & Requirements

• Minimum 5 years in contractor activities within an active AOA, preferably on similar projects
• Experience with airfield construction safety, FAA Part 139, CSPP/SPCD
• Availability for overnight shifts and active airfield work
• PHL airfield badge with escort privileges; driving privileges preferred
• Completion of PHL safety tests within 2–4 months of start
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently

Education & Credentials

• OSHA 30 Construction, CHST, or similar
• FAA/airport safety training upon onboarding
• Valid driver’s license

Physical Requirements
Active oversight in dynamic environments, including standing, walking, climbing, stooping, lifting, and navigating uneven terrain. Work occurs in various weather conditions. Candidates must perform these functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
