Job summary

Textron Aviation in Wichita, KS is seeking an Industrial Sewing Machine Operator for the second shift to sew upholstery items and prepare materials. May assist lower grade operators as needed.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and basic arithmetic.
• Minimum of one year industrial sewing machine experience.
• Ability to interpret blueprints and simple drawings.
• Experience with upholstery materials is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operates sewing machine for binding edges, sewing seams, topstitch, blind stitch, and installing zippers.
• Seams and sew a variety of upholstery items such as cushions, headliners, and seating.
• Match weave and pattern before sewing; ensure machine is properly adjusted.
• Select supplies (thread, bobbin) according to fabric specifications.
• Maintain records of items sewn and perform basic machine maintenance.
