Job summary

Textron Aviation offers a 10-week internship for a Mechanical Design Engineer Intern focused on interiors and aircraft concepts. You’ll contribute to design research, 3D modeling, and human factors layout while coordinating with multiple technical groups and presenting concepts to stakeholders.

The role emphasizes hands-on project work, mentorship, and exposure to both interior and exterior aircraft design processes, with onsite work and a strong emphasis on collaboration and communication.

Qualifications

• Pursuing bachelor’s degree in a relevant design/engineering field.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for team projects.
• Experience with 2D/3D design tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Generate concepts for innovative products and features based on provided criteria.
• Plan and participate in ideation, research, design, and development for projects.
• Collaborate with multiple design and engineering groups to track progress.
• Create interior/exterior design concepts for aircraft and blocks.
• Support interior layout concepts including cockpit, cabin, lavatory, and baggage areas.
• Develop exterior concepts showing overall exterior with windows.
• Use market research and human factors to evaluate concepts.
• Develop 2D sketches and 3D surfaces using Alias and related tools.
