Job summary

Textron Aviation is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer Intern to originate and develop ideas for aircraft interior and exterior concepts. You will perform design research, sketching, 3D modeling, and collaboration with engineering and interior teams. The role involves presenting concepts to internal and external audiences and supporting both interior and exterior design efforts.

The internship runs 10 weeks in the summer, demanding onsite work. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Transportation Design, or related field.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience with design software including Photoshop and 3D tools.

Responsibilities

• Generate concepts for innovative products based on provided criteria.
• Plan and participate in ideation, engineering research, design, and manufacturing activities.
• Collaborate with engineering and design teams to develop and monitor project progress.
• Create conceptual designs for interior and exterior of aircraft and related projects.
• Support interior layout concepts including cockpit, cabin, lavatory, and baggage areas.
• Develop exterior concepts showing cockpit and cabin windows.
• Use market research and human factors to evaluate designs.
• Develop 2D sketches and 3D geometry using Alias and other tools.
