Job summary

The Inland Group of Companies (IDS and Quantem Aviation Services) is seeking an Aircraft Deicer at PIT Airport in Pittsburgh, PA. This part-time seasonal role pays $17.00/hr and is on-call during winter weather.

The primary duties include removing ice from aircraft, inspecting for contamination, and applying deicing fluid. Applicants must be 18+, have a valid US driver’s license, pass badging/background checks, and be able to work multiple shifts including weekends.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old with a valid US Driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Successful completion of airport badging and background check.
  • Must be able to read, write, understand and carry out instructions in English.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe environment during de/anti-icing operations.
  • Inspect aircraft for ice and frozen contamination after deicing.
  • Spray aircraft with glycol-based deicing fluid.
  • Participate in pre-planning for de/anti-ice event; check equipment and servicing gear.
  • Ensure proper shutdown of pads and complete paperwork/log books.

The individual in this position inspects the aircraft for ice and for remaining frozen contamination after the deicing has been performed. He or she sprays the airplane down with the deicing fluid, which is usually made of glycol. Here is a streaming video of what we do: https://youtu.be/TXc32NVzmag?si=d8c1oRv3iye7_XbUEssential Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):Ensure a safe environment during the de/anti-icing operation and make sure all company policies and procedures are being followed correctly;Uphold and follow the duties related to de/anti-icing aircraft according to procedures for both airlines and IDS including inspecting aircraft for frozen contamination;Participate in the pre-planning for the de/anti-ice event (perform checks on equipment, trucks, servicing equipment with fuel or glycol);Ensure proper shutdown of pads, including paperwork and log books; that all maintenance issues have been logged and reported to maintenance and all proper shutdown procedures for the equipment are followed.Required Skills and Experience:Must be at least 18 years old with a valid US Driver’s license and reliable transportation;Successful completion of the airport badging and background check process required for this location.High school diploma or equivalent and Intermediate computer skills preferred;Maintain and treat all information as confidential;Must be able to read, write, understand and carry out instructions in English;Must be able to speak and hear efficiently as well as, verbally direct in English;Possess the tact to deal with all levels of employees and client representatives;Successful completion of all IDS classroom and OJT de-/anti-icing training;Must be available to work at least 3 shifts minimum per week (Monday - Friday) and at least 2 weekend days per month (Saturday – Sunday);PIT is a Single Operator (SO) Station, you are required to pass the additional training qualifications to become Single Operator quailified.Work Environment:The Inland Group of Companies maintains a drug-free workplace and, as such, all candidates and employees can expect to participate in our drug testing program.Prolonged periods of time standing with exposure to prevalent weather, dust, dirt, fuel, fumes and noise, in or around heavy equipment and moving vehicles.Physical Demands:Must be able to squat, stoop, kneel, bend, stretch, crawl, climb ladders and work at heights in excess of 15-ft to perform inspections;Must be able to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms;Vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus;May be exposed to hazards inherent in airport operations, including noise, vehicles, equipment, and winter weather, all of which are well-managed with a high level of training, personal protective equipment, and safety procedures.The Inland Group of Companies offers a variety of opportunities to work in the field of aviation.
