Job summary

Serco in Gig Harbor, WA is seeking an Air Traffic Controller to manage aircraft movements safely and efficiently at or near the airport. You will issue clearances, monitor weather, and coordinate with field personnel as part of a trained ATC team.

The role requires US citizenship, an FAA Second Class Medical Certificate, a CTO rating or Tower Credential with six months of experience, and successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen. A security clearance is required.

Qualifications

• FAA Second Class Medical Certificate required.
• CTO rating or Credential with Tower Rating and 6 months of practical experience required.
• US Citizenship required.
• Eligibility to work for Serco under Federal Immigration Laws.
• Pre-employment drug screen required.
• FAA Security clearance (interim and final) required.
• Proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Answer radio calls from arriving/departing aircraft.
• Issue landing and takeoff instructions.
• Disseminate information on runway usage, wind, visibility, taxiing, and other aircraft in the vicinity.
• Issue air traffic clearances.
• Perform LAWRS weather observations and disseminate weather info to pilots and ATC facilities.
• Transfer and receive control of aircraft.
• Operate radios, telephones, computers, radar, weather equipment and related systems.
• Alert first responders to emergencies.
• Coordinate with airport vehicles and personnel.
• Maintain and disseminate daily operation records.
• Provide on-the-job training instructor duties as required.
