Job Description:
This Air Quality Technician (AQT) Journeyman is responsible for daily maintenance and repair of campus HVAC and refrigeration equipment including related preventive maintenance. Performance of HVAC and refrigeration maintenance activities support the department’s mission to ensure buildings and equipment operate as true assets in support of University and individual career goals. The incumbent is responsible for meeting work schedules and service requests, by providing effective and efficient maintenance workmanship and leadership.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent GED.
• Must have a Department of Labor or equivalent Refrigeration Mechanic or Air Quality Journeyman certification.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license and must be insurable under UToledo driving policies.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., works well with hands, and work with close tolerance. Ability to climb ladders and stairs.
• Must have knowledge and skill in leadership, HVAC & refrigeration technology, blueprint reading, electrical wiring schematics, regulations, codes, mathematics, HVAC and refrigeration repairs and installation, hand and power tool operation.
• The ability to work cooperatively with others, solve technical problems, read technical documents, and work with dexterity is required.
• An understanding of building layout, terminology, and university policy and procedures to be obtained post hire.
Communication and other skills:
• Verbal skills to communicate with staff, patients, family members, and management.
• Verbal skills to communicate with other trades and work control.
