Job Description

This Air Quality Technician (AQT) Journeyman is responsible for daily maintenance and repair of campus HVAC and refrigeration equipment, including preventive maintenance. The role supports the department’s mission to ensure operational efficiency of buildings and equipment, providing effective maintenance and leadership.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Department of Labor or equivalent Refrigeration Mechanic or Air Quality Journeyman certification
• Valid driver’s license and insurable under UToledo policies
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, work with hands and close tolerances
• Knowledge of HVAC & refrigeration technology, blueprint reading, electrical schematics, codes, mathematics, repairs, and installation
• Strong teamwork, problem-solving, and technical reading skills
• Understanding of building layout and university policies (post-hire)

Communication & Other Skills

• Effective verbal communication with staff, management, and external contacts
• Ability to work cooperatively with other trades and work control
