Job summary

Government of the Virgin Islands is seeking a professional environmental engineer to protect or improve air, land, and water resources and provide a clean and healthful environment. The role involves planning, evaluating plans, field surveys, and presenting information for legal action.

The incumbent will work under supervision but with a high degree of independence, developing major programs and supervising others as needed.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in engineering related to environmental fields and 1 year of work experience.
Or a bachelor's degree in related fields with 3 years of work experience.

Responsibilities

Examines and evaluates plans and specifications for environmental engineering structures, systems and operations.
Participates in or maintains indirect controls over technical aspects of environmental engineering activities.
Conducts environmental engineering field surveys and studies with laboratory services as needed.
Provides technical assistance and advice to the public and professionals.
Acts as lead worker to other professional and clerical personnel in environmental engineering activities.
Assists in developing and presenting information for use as evidence in legal action.
Develops and administers major environmental engineering programs including plans, budgets and reports.
Performs other related duties as required.
