Job summary

The Department of Environmental Protection in Augusta seeks an Assistant Environmental Engineer to join the Licensing & Compliance Division of the Bureau of Air Quality. The role reviews air emission license applications, conducts compliance assistance, and develops technical reports in accordance with state and federal laws.

Collaboration with facilities, EPA, and the public is required. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental/Civil/Mechanical/Chemical Engineering or

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Civil, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering or related field.
Engineering-in-Training certification may be required for non-degreed candidates.
Preference for knowledge in combustion/air pollution tech; strong communication.

Responsibilities

Review and process air emission license applications.
Conduct compliance assistance activities.
Write, review, and analyze technical reports; participate in rule making.
Interface with facilities, EPA, and public as needed.
