Job summary

The Operations Control Specialist (OCS) at PHI Health is responsible for monitoring air and ground EMS operations, coordinating with pilots, dispatchers, and base staff, and applying Aviation Decision Making to mitigate risks during flight planning and execution.

Candidates should have EMS flight experience or related aviation operations insight, strong computer skills, and a solid understanding of FAA regulations, weather forecasting, and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience in EMS aviation or flight operations is preferred.
• Strong computer skills and proficiency with MS Office.
• Knowledge of FAA regulations and weather forecasting is required.
• Excellent communication and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and coordinate with multiple teams.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Communications Center personnel; Aviation Managers and Base Pilots on requests for PHI air medical staff when conditions indicate risk.
• Coordinate resolution of operational control issues as they arise.
• Coordinate with others when conditions warrant a return to a 'Green' status.
• Confirm weather conditions with pilots and assist with weather updates as needed.
• Monitor and track aircraft using satellite systems when applicable.
• Access current aviation publications and reference materials online.
• Notify leadership if operations are degraded or systems fail.
• Place work orders for malfunctioning equipment and software interfaces.
• Support Safety Management System activities and comply with HS&E policies.
