Blue Water Shipping seeks a Freight Forwarding Agent in Chicago to manage end-to-end shipment handling for imports and exports. You will work closely with customers, carriers, and brokers to ensure timely delivery, accuracy of documents, and proactive communication on status and issues.

Qualifications

• 3+ years freight forwarding experience in import.
• Understanding of international and domestic shipping.
• Knowledge of dangerous goods regulations.
• Strong communication and transparency with customers.
• Ability to incorporate team feedback to improve procedures.
• Growth mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
• Customer-focused with clear communication.
• Adaptive communication style for diverse stakeholders.
• Solid understanding of incoterms.
• Professional written and verbal communication with customers and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily contact with customers and suppliers, processing inquiries and follow-ups.
• Gather shipment details: weight, dimensions, origin, destination, cargo type.
• Coordinate imports and exports from booking to delivery with airlines and brokers.
• Prepare shipping documents and review exports.
• Track shipments and provide status updates to clients.
• Negotiate rates with airlines and carriers.
• Collaborate with sales, customs, and billing teams.
• Ensure compliance with TSA, IATA, AES filings.
