Job Description

This position involves supervising and performing maintenance, repairs, and installation of HVAC equipment within federal correctional facilities. The role requires ensuring the proper functioning of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to maintain safe and humane environments.

Qualifications

Applicants must have sufficient training and experience to perform the duties of the position. Qualifications will be assessed based on responses to application questions and must meet the standards outlined in the Job Qualification System for Trades and Labor Occupations, WS-5306 Series. Applicants must demonstrate experience and skills at the journeyman level and meet the following:

• Ability to supervise and work effectively with prisoners
• Achieve at least half of the total possible points in the assessment

**Selective Factor:** Applicants must possess one of the following certifications:

• EPA approved refrigerant recovery Certification for Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) Class 1 and Class 2, or
• EPA approved Universal Certification for Ozone Depleting Substances.

Applicants must upload proof of certification when applying. Current BOP employees in similar positions are considered to meet the selective factor.
