Job summary

The University of Texas at Arlington is seeking an HVAC technician to oversee the central air conditioning control system (FCMS). You will install, monitor, and adjust central control units to maintain optimal temperature settings and energy efficiency across campus facilities.

Key duties include supervising troubleshooting of solid-state boards, installing FCMS sensors and wiring, and programming system graphics alongside a preventive maintenance program.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or vocational certificate with courses in electricity, plumbing, or air conditioning.
• Three years HVAC experience, including two years with an Energy Management System.
• Experience with energy management systems and building controls.
• This position requires a Texas Class C Driver’s License and three years of acceptable driving history.

Responsibilities

• Supervise troubleshooting of solid-state boards and energy conservation in building facilities.
• Schedule FCMS operations for weekends and holidays.
• Assist with FCMS installation, sensors, wiring, and hardware.
• Assist with FCMS programming, system graphics, and preventative maintenance.

Salary

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $25 to $28. The final offer will be commensurate with the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications

Purpose of Position

Manage the efficiency of the central air conditioning control system (Facilities Control and Monitoring System). Responsible for the installation and monitoring of central control units. Maintain temperature settings and readings. Ensure optimum system performance and energy conservation.

Essential Functions

• Supervise and assist with the trouble shooting of solid-state boards, the trunk system, and all related optimization and conservation of energy within building facilities.
• Verify and the scheduling of the FCMS system for the weekend and holiday operations.
• Supervises and assists with the installation on the FCMS systems to include the installation of all sensors, electrical hardware, electrical conduits, and writing.
• Supervises and assists with the programming of the FCMS system to include the programming of the solid-state boards and creating points, design and programming of system graphics and of the preventive maintenance system.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High school graduation or vocational school certificate with special courses in electricity, plumbing, or air conditioning, or equivalent.
• Three years HVAC systems, including two years of Energy Management System experience.
• Experience and working knowledge with an energy management system.
• This position requires a Texas Class “C” Operator’s Driver’s License and three (3) years of acceptable driving history.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficient in A/C and electrical tools and equipment common to HVAC's and electrical trades to include volt ohmmeters and oscilloscope, as well as tools and equipment common to EMS systems.
• Experience and working knowledge with Siemens Apogee energy management system.

• Ability to use all hand and power tools common the HVAC trade.
• Knowledge of MS Office.

Work Schedule

• Monday through Friday; 8:00am through 4:30pm.
