Job summary

The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. seeks AIMSS Mentor FWS to support students academically, socially, and in life planning. You will mentor individuals and groups on campus and in the community, assess needs, and help develop person-centered plans with collaboration across departments.

Responsibilities include implementing intervention strategies, monitoring progress, and working with staff and graduate assistants to build comprehensive student support programming for the academic year.

Description of Job Duties and Responsibilities

AIMSS mentor will work with students, one‑on‑one and in groups, to support students’ goals related to academics, college experience, and life planning. Mentors engage with students in various settings on campus and in the community, assist in the assessment of students’ support needs and creation of person‑centered plans, design and implement intervention strategies, and evaluate student progress and outcomes on a routine basis. Mentors work in collaboration with one another, interns and graduate assistants from other departments, staff members, and departments across campus to build relationships and programming that best support students’ needs.

Minimum Qualifications

Skills and abilities needed for this position: Knowledge related to individuals with disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorder; outstanding organization and communication skills; ability to maintain confidentiality; flexible ability to respond to a variety of individual needs of students with autism.

Base hourly rate: $10.00 - $15.00
