Job summary

Katy ISD is seeking an Aide - SPED for the RISE program at Freeman High in Katy, TX. The role reports to the Principal and requires non-exempt status with IS03 pay grade.

Starting immediately, you will support students with disabilities and assist with records, behavior plans, and daily instruction. Qualifications include Title I hours or ParaPro score, a Paraprofessional Aide II certificate upon employment, and CPI certification.

Qualifications

• Title I campus requires 48 college hours or ParaPro 464 score
• Non-Title I campus requires 15 college hours or high school diploma with 464 ParaPro score
• Paraprofessional Educational Aide II certificate required once employed
• Experience with students with disabilities and confidential records preferred
• Strong clerical skills and the ability to work under stress

Responsibilities

Primary Purpose:

To provide instructional and behavioral assistance to students served in the RISE program.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in implementing all elements of RISE program
• Assist in maintaining accurate records of students in RISE program.
• Assist in implementing behavior management strategies.
• Assist in maintaining student records and charts for determining student progress.
• Assist in providing re-orientation and instruction to students in RISE classroom.
• Assist in monitoring student behaviors.
• Obtain and maintain certification in the CPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.
• Other SHARS Duties as assigned.
• Provide Personal Care as identified in applicable student IEPs.

Equipment Used:

Wheelchair lift, ramps, personal computer, copier, and audiovisual equipment.

Working Conditions:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Moderate standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, and pulling; regular heavy lifting of students. Exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases. Exposure to verbal and physical aggression by students.
