  • Accuracy in record keeping and form completion.
  • Ability to keep information confidential.
  • Paraprofessional Educational Aide II certificate required once employed.
  • Valid CPI certification preferred (can be obtained after employment).

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to federal, state and local policies and procedures related to special education.
  • Participate in planned in-services and professional growth activities.
  • Assist in carrying out a behavioral program for students.
  • Assist in maintaining student records
  • Coach and model behavioral interventions for specific students in their least restrictive environment
  • Assist behavior team with extended modeling and coaching for students with behavioral challenges.
  • Assist in preparation for ARD meetings.
  • Assist in collecting and maintaining the student behavior data.
  • Obtain and maintain CPI certification.
  • Support the Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) accepted by the ARD committee.
  • Provide instruction to students under the supervision of the Behavior Specialist
  • Provide behavior intervention strategies under the supervision of the Behavior Specialist.

Primary Purpose:

Data tracking, instructional, and student care duties as assigned.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in maintaining student records

  • Support the Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) accepted by the ARD committee.
  • Provide instruction to students under the supervision of the Behavior Specialist
  • Provide behavior intervention strategies under the supervision of the Behavior Specialist.

Equipment Used:

Personal computer, copier, calculator, fax machine, laminator, Smart boards.

Working Conditions:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, and pulling; occasional running, heavy lifting and carrying, 45 pounds and over daily, positioning of students, moving classroom or adaptive equipment, noise exposure, biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases; exposure to physical and verbal outbursts by students. May be required to utilize CPI strategies to manage disruptive students, including restraint.
