Job summary

The Archdiocese of St. Louis is seeking an Extended Care Aide to provide a safe, faith-filled environment for preschool children before and after the regular school day.

The role involves supervising children, assisting with age-appropriate activities, and creating a welcoming space that reflects Catholic education values. You will work closely with preschool teachers and school staff to ensure children are safe, happy, and well cared for during extended care, including arrival and dismissal

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience working with children, especially in educational or religious settings.
  • Commitment to supporting Catholic Church and Catholic education.
  • First aid/CPR certification preferred.
  • Background check and Safe Environment Training.

Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive supervision of preschool children at all times.
  • Help provide a warm, welcoming classroom environment.
  • Supervise children during after school playtime, arrival, dismissal, and transitions.
  • Assist children with age-appropriate personal needs, including handwashing, toileting, snacks, and dressing.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe learning environment.
  • Encourage positive social interactions, cooperation, kindness, and respectful behavior.
  • Support the integration of Catholic faith and values into the daily after care experience.
  • Help children learn and practice age-appropriate prayers, virtues, and Christian values.
  • Communicate appropriately and respectfully with teachers, families, and school staff.
  • Follow all school policies and procedures regarding child safety, supervision, confidentiality, and health.
  • Attend staff meetings, training, or professional development as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Preschool Director or lead teacher.

Job Summary
  • The Extended Care Aide provides a safe, nurturing, and faith-filled environment for preschool children before and/or after the regular school day. The aide is responsible for supervising children, assisting with age-appropriate activities and routines, and creating a welcoming environment that reflects the mission and values of Catholic education.
  • The ideal candidate is caring, dependable, patient, energetic, and enjoys working with young children. The Extended Care Aide works closely with preschool teachers and school staff to ensure children are safe, happy, and well cared for throughout the extended care period.
