Job summary

The Archdiocese of St. Louis is seeking an Extended Care Aide for Sacred Heart Catholic School in Florissant, MO. You will supervise students before and after the school day, support homework, and help provide a safe, faith-filled environment that reflects our values.

You will collaborate with teachers and families to support student success, maintain records, and oversee snack time and activity sessions while modeling respectful, Catholic behavior.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience with children in school or childcare preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to supervise groups of children and maintain safety.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise students during extended care hours and ensure their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Monitor student behavior and promote a positive, respectful environment.
  • Assist students with homework and academic activities as appropriate.
  • Organize and participate in age-appropriate recreational, educational, and enrichment activities.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, sign-in, and sign-out records.
  • Verify authorized pick-up procedures and communicate with parents and guardians as needed.
  • Assist with snack distribution and monitor students during snack time.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe program spaces.
  • Follow school safety policies and emergency procedures.
  • Report accidents, injuries, behavioral concerns, or other incidents to the Extended Care Director or school administration.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and families to support student success.
  • Support and model Catholic values and Christian behavior in all interactions.

Job Summary

The Extended Care Aide supports the school's Extended Care Program by providing supervision, care, and enrichment opportunities for students before and/or after the regular school day. The Extended Care Aide helps create a safe, welcoming, and faith-filled environment where students can learn, play, and grow while supporting the mission and values of Sacred Heart Catholic School.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervise students during extended care hours and ensure their safety and well-being at all times.

  • Assist students with homework and academic activities as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children in a school, childcare, camp, or recreational setting preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to supervise and engage groups of school-aged children.
  • Ability to maintain a safe and positive environment.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to supporting the mission and values of Catholic education.
