Job summary

Sylvania is seeking an Aide, Behavior to provide targeted behavioral support and character education to elementary students in a small-group setting. The role focuses on teaching social skills and positive conduct to help students succeed in the classroom and the community.

Under the supervision of the school principal and in collaboration with the counselor, you will monitor progress, reinforce expected behaviors, and participate in district trainings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with children or individuals with behavioral needs preferred.
• Familiarity with PBIS, MTSS, and trauma-informed practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead small-group character education lessons (approximately 20 minutes) using a provided curriculum for students in grades K–5.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance and progress. Use simple district tools to track how students are improving their behavioral skills over time.
• Reinforce positive character traits and behavioral expectations in common areas, such as the playground, cafeteria, and hallways.
• Communicate regularly with administrators, school counselors, and teachers regarding student progress and group schedules.
• Serve as a positive role model for students, demonstrating professional communication and problem-solving at all times.
• Attend required ongoing district training.

Aide, Behavior (Small Group Intervention)

This position is for approximately 15 hours per week.

Position Overview

This paraprofessional position will provide targeted behavioral support and character education to students in a small-group setting. The goal of this position is to proactively teach students the social and behavioral skills necessary for success in the classroom and the community. This individual works under the direct supervision of the school principal and, in conjunction with the school counselor, supports students who need additional guidance in areas such as respect, responsibility, and self-discipline to meet school-wide behavior expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead small-group character education lessons (approximately 20 minutes) using a provided curriculum for students in grades K–5.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance and progress. Use simple district tools to track how students are improving their behavioral skills over time.
