Job summary

Sylvania in Utah is seeking a part-time Aide, Behavior to provide targeted behavioral support and character education to students in a small-group setting.

Under supervision of the school principal and in conjunction with the school counselor, you will teach social and behavioral skills, reinforce positive traits, and support students with meetings and progress tracking.

Qualifications

  • Ability to speak clearly and professionally with children and adults.
  • Aptitude for leading small groups of children and maintaining a positive, orderly learning environment.
  • Familiarity with PBIS, MTSS, and trauma-informed practices
  • Experience working with children or individuals with behavioral needs preferred
  • Adapting instruction to diverse learning needs
  • Ability to stay organized and follow a schedule while remaining flexible

Responsibilities

  • Lead small-group character education lessons (approximately 20 minutes) using a provided curriculum for students in grades K–5.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and progress. Use simple district tools to track how students are improving their behavioral skills over time.
  • Reinforce positive character traits and behavioral expectations in common areas, such as the playground, cafeteria, and hallways.
  • Communicate regularly with administrators, school counselors, and teachers regarding student progress and group schedules.
  • Serve as a positive role model for students, demonstrating professional communication and problem-solving at all times.
  • Attend required ongoing district training.

Position Overview

This paraprofessional position will provide targeted behavioral support and character education to students in a small-group setting. The goal of this position is to proactively teach students the social and behavioral skills necessary for success in the classroom and the community. This individual works under the direct supervision of the school principal and, in conjunction with the school counselor, supports students who need additional guidance in areas such as respect, responsibility, and self-discipline to meet school-wide behavior expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and progress. Use simple district tools to track how students are improving their behavioral skills over time.

Skills

Experience working with children or individuals with behavioral needs preferred

Ability to stay organized and follow a set schedule while remaining flexible to the changing needs of a school day.

Ability to maintain student confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professional judgment.

Responsibility

Works under limited supervision, managing skills groups and assisting with intervention strategies as assigned.

Work Environment

Work is performed primarily in classroom environments.

Experience

Previous experience in school settings preferred
