Job summary

ByteDance's Pico VR unit in San Jose seeks a PhD-level engineer to lead the design of a power-efficient, low-latency machine perception vision system for VR/AR. You will develop training/data pipelines and ML models, map them to HW accelerators, and collaborate on cloud-edge workloads and edge HW/SW requirements.

The role demands expertise in ML algorithm research and proficiency in C/C++, Python, and MATLAB, with a strong communication and collaboration mindset.

Qualifications

• PhD degree in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience in research in ML algorithms or AI accelerator design.
• Experience with programming tools/languages such as C/C++, MATLAB, Python.

Responsibilities

• Innovate and develop a power-efficient, low-latency, highly-intelligent machine perception vision system in a VR/AR product.
• Develop training/data collection/generation pipeline with state-of-the-art ML algorithms/frameworks for scene understanding and user behavior.
• Map ML algorithms to HW accelerator, identify bottlenecks, optimize performance, and propose efficient HW/SW co-design for AI accelerator.
• Collaborate with x-functions team and translate system requirements into cloud-edge workload partition and edge ML accelerator HW/SW requirements.
• Perform quantitative evaluations via system modeling and FPGA prototyping to validate ideas and architecture options.
