ByteDance Pico Lab in San Jose seeks a Vision Algorithm Evaluation Engineer to design test scenes and evaluation protocols for VR/MR/AR applications. You will develop benchmarking frameworks and metrics, analyze imaging algorithms, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive algorithm selection and optimization.

The role requires strong CV foundation, Python and C++ proficiency, and 5+ years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in computer vision and imaging algorithms.
• Experience building evaluation, benchmarking, or analysis frameworks.
• Proficiency in Python and C++ and strong technical communication skills.
• 5+ years of relevant experience with advanced degree in related field.

Responsibilities

• Design test scenes, datasets, and evaluation protocols reflecting VR/MR/AR usage scenarios.
• Develop evaluation frameworks and interfaces for consistent assessment of vision algorithms.
• Define and evolve evaluation metrics for image quality, perception accuracy, robustness, latency, and efficiency.
• Perform in-depth technical analysis of imaging and CV algorithms and their performance drivers.
• Benchmark third-party and academic algorithms and assess integration risks.
• Produce clear, data-driven reports with actionable recommendations for algorithm selection and optimization.
• Collaborate with algorithm, camera, display, and product teams while maintaining independent judgment.
