Job summary

SpaceXAI is seeking a hands-on Team Lead for AI Tutors to deliver high-quality training data and evaluations powering our models.

You will supervise a blended team of full-time staff and contractors, review work for accuracy, and drive data-quality processes across projects. This role blends leadership with hands-on labeling and process improvement, requiring strong communication and strategic execution.

Qualifications

• 1+ years hands-on experience in data labeling, annotation, AI training/evaluation, content quality, or similar operational domains.
• Experience building scalable, high-performance technology applications.
• Demonstrated experience with data quality metrics, annotation processes, and guideline-driven workflows.
• Basic understanding of AI and machine learning concepts and how high-quality training data impacts model performance.
• Experience with performance management, coaching, training program development, and certification frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end quality and delivery for assigned Human Data projects — review work in the domain, ensure accuracy, guideline adherence, and high-quality data production at scale.
• Lead, coach, and performance-manage a team of AI Tutors, including performance reviews and action plans.
• Oversee labeling and reviewing tasks to maintain high standards and best practices.
• Ensure strict guideline adherence, taxonomy management, and quality assurance processes.
• Drive efficiency by identifying bottlenecks, implementing process improvements, and tracking KPIs.
• Build, update, and deliver training materials and certification benchmarks; manage certifications.
• Collaborate with Human Data Managers, Team Leads, and Engineering to translate model needs into labeling strategies.
• Coach and develop talent while maintaining accountability and high performance; support disciplinary actions.
• Document outcomes, suggest process iterations, and report project status, risks, and results.
• Act as the voice of your tutors and foster collaboration across the broader Human Data organization.
