Job summary

Merck in Rahway, NJ seeks an Executive Director, R&D IT AI Technical Strategy Lead to build and execute our AI capability strategy. You will partner with IT and R&D leaders to enable near-term value and agile evolution of our AI/ML solutions, guiding department-wide initiatives and cross-functional decision making.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Life Science is required.
• MBA or PhD is preferred.
• 10 years of experience in Enterprise / IT architecture or related IT environment.

Responsibilities

• Align IT/AI strategy with Central IT and Business; track success indicators and drive adoption.
• Demonstrate expert understanding of pharma R&D tech landscape and data flows.
• Build strong cross-functional relationships with IT and business stakeholders to resolve complex problems.
• Stay current with AI/ML trends (including deep learning/generative AI) to identify opportunities.
• Collaborate with R&D IT Value teams to roadmap capabilities and maximize value.
• Communicate IT strategy to stakeholders and foster a digital mindset; drive change.
• Lead a team with responsibility for talent development.
