Job summary

Thomson Reuters Global Westlaw Engineering seeks an AI Staff Engineer to define and build the AI foundation powering Westlaw experiences, including agentic systems, RAG, and knowledge services at scale.

You will work across AI, data, platform, and product teams to deliver trustworthy, high‑performing legal research solutions with a strong emphasis on security, compliance, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• 8+ years of software engineering, including 4+ years in senior/lead AI/ML roles.
• Hands-on AI expertise with generative AI, RAG, or LLM-based systems.
• Proficiency in Python or other OO languages; backend services and API design.
• Experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform; production AI model integration.
• Strong leadership and mentoring; ability to influence senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Build and architect AI-driven systems at enterprise scale; design multi-component pipelines and autonomous AI agents.
• Drive innovation and strategy; evaluate AI techniques and translate to roadmaps.
• Provide senior technical leadership and mentor engineers; governance for AI model lifecycle.
