Job summary

Lam Research in Fremont, CA seeks a data scientist to design and program AI methods that analyze unstructured big data into actionable insights. You will develop algorithms and automated processes to evaluate large data sets from diverse sources, enabling data-driven decisions across engineering and operations.

You’ll lead end-to-end AI initiatives on our shared platforms, including RAG pipelines, embedding models, and scalable inference.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with 10+ years of AI engineering experience.
• Experience architecting enterprise-scale AI/GenAI solutions—including agentic frameworks, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and orchestration—as reusable, interoperable patterns.
• Deep knowledge of GenAI orchestration frameworks and agent communication standards.
• Solid understanding of ML/DL frameworks and ML techniques and their real-world tradeoffs.
• Hands-on experience building and optimizing Transformer-based systems, including RAG pipelines and vector databases.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end AI solutions on Lam's AI platform — AI Foundry, Agent Runtime & Orchestration, Knowledge Service, and Ontology.
• Translate business problems into reusable patterns for delivery across R&D and enterprise use cases.
• Serve as the technical bridge between Platforms & Technology and AI Delivery teams, ensuring proper application of platform capabilities.
• Lead solution and design reviews, and enforce architectural standards for agentic and orchestration-based solutions.
• Embed security, governance, compliance, and cost-efficiency into designs by default.
• Champion reuse of common platform primitives to reduce total cost of ownership.
• Partner with product managers and engineering teams to take solutions from architecture to production.
