Job summary

SkyWest is seeking an Enterprise AI Architect to lead the design and delivery of AI solutions across airline operations and enterprise systems.

You will partner with business and technology leaders to identify opportunities, set architectural standards, and guide cross-functional teams through scalable AI programs, including Copilot integrations and LLM-based solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software development or architecture.
• 2+ years cloud-based design experience.
• 2+ years AI/LLM or Copilot solutions experience.
• Proven track record leading technical projects across teams.
• Bachelor's degree in CS or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Partner with business and technology leaders to identify and prioritize AI opportunities that improve efficiency and business results.
• Lead the architecture, design, and delivery of enterprise AI solutions using LLMs, AI agents, Copilot, Azure AI services, and related technologies.
• Establish enterprise AI architecture standards, patterns, and best practices for secure, scalable, reliable, and governed designs.
• Analyze business processes to determine where AI, automation, or traditional software solutions add value.
• Design and oversee RAG solutions, knowledge management, and AI-powered assistants built on enterprise data sources.
• Collaborate with software engineering teams to integrate AI capabilities into applications, APIs, and business systems.

Primary Job Duties

• Partner with business and technology leaders to identify, assess, and prioritize AI opportunities that improve efficiency, productivity, and business results.
• Lead the architecture, design, and delivery of enterprise AI solutions using large language models, AI agents, generative AI, machine learning, Microsoft Copilot, Azure AI services, and related technologies.
• Establish enterprise AI architecture standards, patterns, and best practices for secure, scalable, reliable, and well-governed solution design.
• Analyze business processes and workflows to determine where AI, automation, agents, predictive analytics, or traditional software solutions can deliver the most value.
• Design and oversee RAG solutions, knowledge management systems, intelligent search platforms, and AI-powered assistants built on enterprise data sources.
• Work with software engineering teams to integrate AI capabilities into existing applications, APIs, mobile solutions, and business systems.

Minimum Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
• Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in software development, systems architecture, cloud architecture, data engineering, or related technology roles.
• 2+ years of experience designing and implementing cloud-based solutions.
• 2+ years of experience designing, implementing, or supporting Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Generative AI, Copilot, or Large Language Model (LLM) solutions.
• Demonstrated experience leading technical projects and providing architectural guidance across cross-functional teams.

Technical Knowledge

• Experience with one or more major cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
• Experience with AI and generative AI technologies, including:
  • Large Language Models (LLMs)
  • Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
  • AI Agents
  • Prompt Engineering
  • Vector Databases
• Experience integrating enterprise applications using APIs, web services, and cloud services.
• Experience with databases and data platforms, including relational and non-relational systems.
• Experience with software development using modern programming languages such as C# (preferred), Python, Java, or similar technologies.
• Understanding of cybersecurity, identity management, data protection, privacy, and compliance requirements.
• Experience building solutions using Microsoft Copilot and Azure Foundry.

• Ability to present recommendations and architectural designs to technical and executive audiences.
