Job summary

SkyWest is seeking a Senior Enterprise AI Architect to lead the architecture, design, and delivery of AI solutions across the airline's enterprise systems. You will partner with business and technology leaders to identify opportunities, set standards, and ensure secure, scalable implementations using Azure, Copilot, and related tools.

The role requires 5+ years in software architecture and 2+ years in cloud-based AI projects, with hands-on experience leading cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
• 5+ years in software development, systems architecture, cloud architecture, data engineering, or related tech roles.
• 2+ years designing and implementing cloud-based solutions.
• 2+ years delivering AI/ML/LLM, Copilot, or related AI projects.
• Experience leading technical projects and guiding cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Partner with business and technology leaders to identify, assess, and prioritize AI opportunities to improve efficiency and results.
• Lead architecture, design, and delivery of enterprise AI solutions using LLMs, AI agents, generative AI, ML, Copilot, Azure AI.
• Establish enterprise AI architecture standards, patterns, and best practices for secure, scalable designs.
• Analyze processes to determine where AI or automation can add value.
• Design and oversee RAG solutions, knowledge management, and intelligent search platforms built on enterprise data sources.
• Work with software teams to integrate AI capabilities into existing apps, APIs, and business systems.

Primary Job Duties

• Partner with business and technology leaders to identify, assess, and prioritize AI opportunities that improve efficiency, productivity, and business results.


• Lead the architecture, design, and delivery of enterprise AI solutions using large language models, AI agents, generative AI, machine learning, Microsoft Copilot, Azure AI services, and related technologies.


• Establish enterprise AI architecture standards, patterns, and best practices for secure, scalable, reliable, and well-governed solution design.


• Analyze business processes and workflows to determine where AI, automation, agents, predictive analytics, or traditional software solutions can deliver the most value.


• Design and oversee RAG solutions, knowledge management systems, intelligent search platforms, and AI-powered assistants built on enterprise data sources.


• Work with software engineering teams to integrate AI capabilities into existing applications, APIs, mobile solutions, and business systems.

Minimum Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.


• Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in software development, systems architecture, cloud architecture, data engineering, or related technology roles.


• 2+ years of experience designing and implementing cloud-based solutions.


• 2+ years of experience designing, implementing, or supporting Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Generative AI, Copilot, or Large Language Model (LLM) solutions.


• Demonstrated experience leading technical projects and providing architectural guidance across cross-functional teams.

Technical Knowledge

• Experience with one or more major cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.


• Experience with AI and generative AI technologies, including:


• Large Language Models (LLMs)


• Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)


• AI Agents


• Prompt Engineering


• Vector Databases


• Experience integrating enterprise applications using APIs, web services, and cloud services.


• Experience with databases and data platforms, including relational and non-relational systems.


• Experience with software development using modern programming languages such as C# (preferred), Python, Java, or similar technologies.


• Understanding of cybersecurity, identity management, data protection, privacy, and compliance requirements.


• Experience building solutions using Microsoft Copilot and Azure Foundry.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


• Ability to translate business objectives into technical solutions.


• Ability to present recommendations and architectural designs to technical and executive audiences.


• Proven ability to lead technical discussions, influence stakeholders, and drive technology adoption.
