Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking a Software Development Manager to lead a hybrid team of Applied Scientists and Software Development Engineers focused on AI security and risk management. The role involves building systems that audit, report on, and remediate AI-associated risks across our AI ecosystem.

You will drive technical strategy, mentor engineers, and partner with security, compliance, and research teams to address threats.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of engineering experience.
• 5+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 10+ years of planning, designing, developing and delivering consumer software experience.
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams.
• Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment.
• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.
• Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Responsibilities

• Drive the development of systems that identify, assess, and mitigate security vulnerabilities across AI infrastructure and applications
• Build automated tools and frameworks that detect risks and implement corrective measures at scale
• Define security standards and engineering practices for AI systems throughout their lifecycle
• Collaborate with security, compliance, and research teams to address evolving threats and challenges
• Build, mentor, and grow a high-performing hybrid team of Applied Scientists and Software Development Engineers
• Foster a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and continuous learning in the rapidly evolving AI security domain
• Conduct performance management, career development, and succession planning for team members
• Balance research exploration with engineering execution to deliver both innovative solutions and production‑ready systems
• Define and execute the technical roadmap for AI risk auditing and automated remediation capabilities
• Collaborate with cross‑functional partners including AI platform teams, security organizations, and product groups
• Communicate complex technical concepts and risk assessments to senior leadership and stakeholders
• Drive operational excellence through metrics, monitoring, and continuous improvement of AI security systems
• Stay current with AI security, adversarial AI, and emerging threat vectors
• Encourage experimentation and research into novel approaches for detecting and mitigating AI risks
• Publish findings and contribute to the broader AI security community when appropriate
