Job summary

Amazon's AWS Infrastructure Security Boundary Protection team is seeking a Software Development Manager to lead initiatives and deliver software that protect AWS's operational network across the full device lifecycle—from provisioning through decommissioning.

You will manage a team of engineers responsible for developing software used for network configuration, vulnerability management, and security validation across AWS's global infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 7+ years of engineering experience.
• 8+ years in multi-tier web services architecture.
• 1+ years of technical leadership and project management for SDLC.
• 1+ years of developing large-scale distributed systems using Java, C#, or C++.
• 1+ years of SOA and distributed programming experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of 7-10 engineers focused on network boundary protection, access controls, and vulnerability management across AWS's global infrastructure.
• Define and execute the strategic vision for securing AWS operational network from device provisioning through decommissioning.
• Drive adoption of AI/ML-powered security solutions, including anomaly detection and configuration validation.
• Own end-to-end security validation processes and enforce access protection policies at scale.
• Partner cross-functionally with Infrastructure Security teams to identify gaps, reduce risk, and raise the security bar.
• Establish and track operational metrics to measure team effectiveness, tool coverage, and operational readiness.
• Recruit, mentor, and retain top engineering talent while fostering a culture of ownership and excellence.
• Communicate security posture, risks, and priorities to senior leadership with clarity and precision.
• Champion continuous improvement through automation and tooling to stay ahead of evolving threats.
