Job summary

dsm-firmenich is seeking a Scientist Machine Learning for Ingredient Discovery in Princeton, NJ or Long Island City, NY. You will develop ML models and AI-driven workflows to accelerate small molecule design and prioritize pipelines, collaborating with chemists, biologists and perfumers to integrate AI with chemistry and sensory science.

You will apply deep learning, cheminformatics tools, and cloud-based workflows, delivering scalable modeling tools while staying current with advances in AI,

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Cheminformatics, Computational Chemistry, Computer Science, AI or related field.
• 2–5 years of academic or industrial work in cheminformatics or computational chemistry, ideally applied to ingredient discovery or sensory biology.
• Strong programming in Python with data science libraries and tooling.
• Experience with RDKit and cheminformatics toolkits; familiarity with graph neural networks is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Use data science and AI to drive a fast-paced ingredient discovery pipeline.
• Develop and implement ML models to support ingredient discovery.
• Build and optimize ML models using Python and common libraries.
• Deploy ML workflows on Azure and AWS cloud platforms.
• Collaborate with chemists, biologists and perfumers to translate requirements into usable tools.
