dsm-firmenich is seeking a Senior Scientist, Computational Receptor Biology & Machine Learning in Long Island City, NY or San Diego, CA to advance protein–ligand modeling with cutting‑edge ML. You’ll lead ambitious deep learning projects that intersect biology, chemistry, and AI, and mentor teammates across disciplines.

Qualifications

  • PhD or equivalent in CS, Mathematics, Physics, Computational Biology, or related field.
  • 3–7 years of academic or industry experience in novel architectures or training paradigms.
  • Strong ML, mathematics, or physics-inspired modeling with geometry, symmetry, probabilistic inference, and learning dynamics.
  • Hands-on experience with PyTorch and/or JAX and building models for structured data.
  • Familiarity with generative or probabilistic modeling (diffusion, flows, score-based) and uncertainty estimation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of deep learning models for receptor–ligand problems using geometry, physics and probabilistic reasoning.
  • Design equivariant, multimodal, or generative architectures for molecular data.
  • Manage scalable distributed training across GPUs and ensure reproducibility.
  • Collaborate with domain experts to translate ML ideas into practical modeling tools.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship across cross-functional teams.
