Job summary

DSM-Firmenich AG in Princeton or Long Island City is seeking a Data Scientist to develop and apply ML models for small molecule design and pipeline prioritization, integrating AI with chemistry, biology and scent/taste domains.

You will collaborate with chemists, biologists and perfumers, deploy ML workflows on Azure/AWS, and contribute to a state-of-the-art discovery engine for fragrance, taste, and health applications.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. required in a relevant field (cheminformatics, computational chemistry, CS, AI or related).
• 2–5 years of experience in cheminformatics or computational chemistry related to ingredient/drug discovery or sensory biology.
• Strong Python proficiency and data science libraries (NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras).

Responsibilities

• Develop and apply ML models to support ingredient discovery and design processes.
• Build and optimize ML workflows and pipelines for cloud deployment (Azure/AWS).
• Collaborate with chemists, biologists and perfumers to translate scientific requirements into scalable tools.
• Stay updated with advances in ML, cheminformatics and generative AI to drive innovation.
